Build file 001 · Custom fit

One golfer. One curve.

This is a real custom fit, start to finish. A right-handed golfer brought in his SAM PuttLab session. We read every number, changed what needed changing, kept what already worked, and drew a face that exists for nobody else.

  • 5 measured putts
  • 10 build decisions, each tied to his data
  • One equation for the face
Engineering drawing of the golfer's Parabola face: side profile of the head and ball at strike height, and a curvature detail showing loft rising from 2.41 degrees at the sole to 4.12 degrees at the top edge Open full size ↗

What we saw. What we built.

Every part of the build answers something in his stroke. Where his old putter already suited him, we kept it.

4.5° toe-up at impact

His hands sit lower at impact than his old putter's 72° lie was built for.

Built 67.5° lie, so the sole sits level at impact.

6.1 mm toward the heel

Average strike point. Only 1 of 5 putts landed inside SAM PuttLab's ±2.5 mm band.

Built Center of gravity moved 6 mm heelward to meet his strike. Sightline stays at face center, where he aims.

9.5 mm average strike height

Strikes ranged 7.7 to 14.1 mm up the face, and rose slightly as he added press.

Built 22 mm face, CG at 9.5 mm, and a convex Parabola curve that adds loft toward the top edge.

0.29 backswing ratio

Short backswing, long follow-through. Below the 0.33–0.40 band on all five putts.

Built 365 g head, 5 g heavier than his old one, to support a longer, smoother backswing.

2.35° face rotation before impact

Just above the 0.8–2.3° band in the last 10 cm. Rotation after impact was already in range.

Built Midsize reverse-taper grip with a flat front to quiet the hands through impact.

Kept what already worked

Tempo, timing, rotation rate and on-plane delivery all sat inside their bands.

Kept 35 in length, 2.0° built-in forward press, lie-balanced center shaft.

The curve

One equation. Every height on the face.

His face is defined by a single parabola in side view. Loft at any height falls out of it. The curve is shaped so his higher strikes, which naturally launch lower, meet a little more loft.

z(y) = 0.05503·u + 6.827×10−4·u²u = y − 9.5 mm

y = height above the sole · z = setback toward the back of the head · convex top to bottom, flat heel to toe

Loft at every height on the face Loft rises smoothly from 2.41 degrees at the sole to 4.12 degrees at the 22 millimeter top edge. The golfer's five strikes sit between 7.7 and 14.1 millimeters, at 3.0 to 3.5 degrees of loft. 2.0°2.5°3.0°3.5°4.0°4.5°05101520 avg strike = CG = 9.5 mm Loft Height on face (mm)

The result

Every putt in the window.

SAM PuttLab's target window for delivered loft is 2.0–3.5°. We re-ran his own five putts on the new face.

Modeled from his session data using the build's geometry, not a re-test with the finished putter. His original numbers are corrected for his old putter's 2.0° of built-in shaft lean.
